Today, Tuesday, October 27th, longtime vaping opponent the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) has organized a call-in action to urge President Obama to put pressure on the FDA to finalize their Tobacco Deeming Regulations.
What CTFK and others are failing to mention is that if the deeming regulations are enacted as written, 99.9% of the vapor products currently on the market will be gone within two to four years. Make no mistake, the current proposed regulations will have a devastating impact on consumers and businesses alike; not to mention the obvious damage to public health.

10-22-15 TRAVEL VLOG VIDEO!
Hey Everyone! Just as a disclaimer this video is 100% hand held footage. Sometimes in a car, sometimes in a noisy arena. I did my best to stabilize the video and make the audio sound good but there are still a few “rough spots” People with motion sickness might have a difficult time viewing.

The FDA is going to regulate us weather we want them to or not. If their regulations are sensible and reasonable then a lot of currently responsible companies will be able to comply with them. Unfortunately I don’t think that will be the case. My background is in food manufacturing. So I understand the need for things like HACCP, and GMP rules. It truly makes products safer. Namberjuice operates out of an ISO9 AEMSA Certified lab. We have taken every possible precaution from flavorings and raw ingredients, to a sanitary food grade mixing facility.
I think more worrisome than the Federal regulations are….
the state and local regulations. Indiana just passed a HUGE tax on liquids, Washington state has done the same, California is about to make vaping completely illegal in public places including your own apartment and vape shops. So even if the FDA comes in and hands out some strict but reasonable regulations. The states still have the ability to regulate, tax and ban vaping, which in my eyes is much scarier.
Summary: The FDA has to be smart with regulation or the majority of companies won’t be able to meet the guidelines. Aside from the FDA’s rules, we need to be looking at the laws passing in each individual state, too.

While U.K. health authorities embrace vaping, a U.S. health panel uses same old reasons to dismiss it
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Vaping Association, a leading advocate for the benefits of vapor products such as electronic cigarettes, reacted today to a new report by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) on smoking cessation tools. The report by the USPSTF, a government-backed independent organization that has a Congressional directive to review the evidence on cessation practices, advises doctors to only recommend FDA-approved therapies and counseling for smokers looking to quit.
Even though vaping is now almost certainly the most frequently used cessation tool in the United States, the task force kicked the can down the road on articulating a clear position on the disruptive technology products. Dr. Francisco Garcia, a task force member and a researcher at the University of Arizona, told Reuters , “There is not enough evidence to evaluate the effectiveness, safety or benefits and harms of using e-cigarettes to help people quit smoking.”
Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association, expressed disappointment in the task force’s decision to dismiss the evidence of the effectiveness and relative risk of vapor products.
“In effect, the task force is sending an irresponsible message to smokers and their doctors – quit or die,” says Conley.
Conley continued: “Every year, far less than 5% of those trying to quit smoking do so successfully. The task force should have at least had the integrity to advise doctors that vapor products may be a positive intervention for hardcore smokers who have tried and failed to quit with products like the nicotine gum, patch, and medications. In the United Kingdom, Public Health England and over a dozen
respected public health authorities have endorsed the use of vapor products by smokers looking to quit. Their rigorous assessment is based on a totality of the evidence, both from clinical trials and the real world,” says Conley. "In contrast, the task force only made a cursory attempt to review the data, and as a result they end with the same old conclusion – more evidence is needed.“
"The clock is ticking. Smoking still kills hundreds of thousands of Americans each year,” adds Conley. “Every time groups like the USPSTF dismiss the benefits of vapor products, there are smokers that take their advice seriously and continue to smoke. The policy is unconscionable and needs to change.” ####

TLDW: Solid box, if not just a touch “cheap” feeling. I REALLY dig the button and I really dig the voltage display but I just cant stand that STRIPE running down the mod. For me, it makes it 100% less comfortable to handle and use.
Hits well and hits hard due to the dual parallel 19650 batteries on the inside. Non spring loaded, but fully adjustable 510 connection is on top.

New Regulations on E-Cigarette Sales Kick In This Week

New regulations governing the sale of electronic cigarettes in Massachusetts take effect this coming week.
As of Friday, anyone under 18 years old will be barred from buying e-cigarettes.
The regulations also ban the promotional giveaway or free distribution of e-cigarettes and require that they be kept out of the reach of customers.
Attorney General Maura Healey said the regulations also ban most sales of e-cigarettes except through face-to-face purchases and not through vending machines except in adults-only establishments.
Other regulations requiring that the liquids and gels used in the devices be sold in child-resistant packaging won’t take effect until March 15, 2016.
E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices that turn nicotine-containing liquid into vapor that is inhaled. Though nicotine can be addictive, e-cigarettes lack the chemicals and tars of burning tobacco.

As much as we want all teenagers to to be completely nicotine-free, there will always be some who experiment (especially those with backgrounds of physical or emotional abuse). Because e-cigs have been proven to contain less harmful toxins than tobacco cigarettes and e-cig users can choose to downgrade the level of nicotine contained in the e-liquids used (or switch to e-liquids containing zero nicotine or substances less harmful than nicotine), perhaps e-cigs could more accurately be viewed as “anti-gateway” Harm Reduction devices?
According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC), there were 1,543 e-cig and e-liquid exposures reported to Poison Centers in 2013. While unfortunate and preventable if more people took precautions with the handling and storage of e-cigs and e-liquids, the number of cases weren’t even close to the top exposures called in to Poison Centers. To put them in context, in the 2013 Annual Report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers’ National Poison Data System, the following were the top 10 substance categories most frequently involved in human exposures:

Of course these figures do not diminish the seriousness and danger of children being exposed to e-liquids, but it does highlight the often selective nature of news reportage, the inability of regulatory measures to completely prevent such incidents, and the overall importance of personal responsibility and vigilant parenting. While news media does have an important role to play in educating the public about health issues, it’s important to understand that what is reported and the way it is reported is never completely without bias.
As members of the e-cig industry, it should be clear we have an interest in defending the e-cig industry. Often less clear is the interest of corporate news media in releasing particular scare stories to increase viewership. Higher ratings and “correct” messaging ensure support from corporate sponsors who may also influence which stories are covered and/or how they’re reported. For example, would it not be in the interest of news networks to discourage the use of products which directly compete with smoking cessation products such as nicotine patches and gum produced by large pharmaceutical companies which spend large sums of money to advertise on the networks (and/or produces PR material which attacks the competition)? In other words, keep in mind that corporate media has more self-interested motives besides public safety. Now more than ever we need to question what is reported and think critically about how facts are presented.

For those wondering. This is the OHM reader i’m using. It’s from CoilMaster
I am by no means a “builder guy"but after realizing that all my fused clapton and cool staple coil builds I was using were done by other people. I decided that I needed to learn how to do this myself.
Again, believe me when I say that if I can do this, you can do this. Huge shoutouts to OhmboyOC, M.Terk and Squidoode for all their help / tip and tricks for this.
I do realize that these coils are not for everyone, but I hope this is helpful for some people out there who are wanting to try out coils like this.
For this build I was using Anarchist 26g wire and 38g NI80 from Kidney puncher.

e FDA is considering proposals to regulate e-cigarettes that would discourage their use. The Los Angeles City Council has banned them in public places, and the California Legislature may vote on an anti-“vaping” law this week.
Blanket laws discouraging the use of e-cigarettes are the wrong policy move. E-cigarettes have already shown themselves to be an appealing alternative to many smokers who are trying to quit. Because almost 500,000 Americans die annually from tobacco-related diseases, a lot is at stake.
Most smokers want to quit but typically try and fail, often repeatedly. Some successfully stop by using nicotine gum or a nicotine patch or taking drugs that make smoking unappealing. But for most smokers, these strategies have not worked.
E-cigarettes, although varied in style, all deliver nicotine to the user in a vapor, which can look like cigarette smoke. By vaping, e-cigarette users can get the level of nicotine hit that addicted smokers crave but without the dangers of burned tobacco. To be clear, nicotine is addictive, but it is not the ingredient in cigarettes that makes traditional smoking so lethal — it’s the burned tobacco that kills.
Though e-cigarettes are not harmless, existing evidence makes clear that they are staggeringly less dangerous than regular cigarettes and other burned tobacco products. The British government agency Public Health England reviewed existing studies and estimated that e-cigarettes are about 95% safer than burned tobacco products. Some users have then been able to wean themselves from nicotine altogether, as the level of nicotine in e-cigarettes can readily be controlled and therefore reduced.
By adopting three complementary policy ideas that would encourage rather than discourage e-cigarette use, government — especially the federal government — could nudge many more Americans to quit smoking and eventually save millions of lives.

TLDW: It’s a strange little device. I still don’t like the way it feels in my hand, and I really don’t like the button. It works good, battery life on a single 18650 at higher wattage is very… meh..
I’m not the biggest tank user, so a lot of the appeal of this is lost on me. It does what it says it will do. And 90% of my tanks do fit inside with no issues.
Super vape budget hands. These mods start at $275 and go UP from there.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Vaping Association, a leading advocate for the benefits of vapor products such as electronic cigarettes, is calling for a reexamination of U.S. views on vapor products following the issuance of a new expert report on the subject by Public Health England. The results of the groundbreaking 111-page government report are front page news in England today.
Key findings of the review include:
“My reading of the evidence is that smokers who switch to vaping remove almost all the risks smoking poses to their health," said Professor Peter Hajek of Queen Mary University. Hajek co-authored the report with Professor Ann McNeill of King’s College London.
In light of this new report, the AVA is calling for U.S. organizations and government agencies like the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to reassess their views on vaping. Additionally, the AVA is calling on these groups to issue corrective statements clarifying prior misleading or inaccurate statements.
"This report represents a major win for public health. Smokers need to know that vapor products are far less hazardous than smoking and effective for quitting,” says Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association. “With over 42 million Americans still smoking cigarettes, there is no excuse for major public health organizations to continue to propagandize against these lifesaving products.”
Public Health England is not the first respected institution in the U.K. to come out in favor of vapor products. The Royal College of Physicians has declared that vapor products have the ability to “prevent many deaths and episodes of serious illness.” The country’s largest anti-smoking group, Action on Smoking & Health (ASH), has long argued against extending smoking bans to include vaping. On Monday, ASH released a report finding no evidence of a ‘gateway’ effect from vaping to smoking, with virtually all habitual usage being found in smokers and ex-smokers.
In contrast to the U.K., government agencies and mainstream public health organizations in the U.S. have been far less open to embracing vaping. For example, Dr. Michael Siegel, Professor of Public Health at the Boston University School of Public Health, has stated that the American Lung Association would rather smokers die than quit using e-cigarettes. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) Office on Smoking and Health, meanwhile, refuses to even admit that a smoker’s health benefits when he or she switches to vaping.
“For years, activists have sought to mislead smokers into believing that vaping may be as hazardous as smoking. These reckless tactics have undoubtedly discouraged many smokers from making quit attempts,” says Conley.
“As a matter of ethics, it is repugnant to intentionally confuse smokers about the risks of smoke-free nicotine products,” adds Conley. “This report should change the debate about vaping in the U.S. for the better. Only time will tell if scientific evidence, rather than hype and conjecture, will win out.” ####

Yesterday, the San Diego City Council voted unanimously to repeal tobacco advertising restrictions that were first adopted by the city in 1998 and then extended to electronic cigarettes and nicotine e-liquid in June of 2014. This action to repeal the tobacco and electronic cigarette advertising restrictions was a direct result of actions taken by NATO, including a legal commentary letter sent to the San Diego City Council on June 28, 2014, which explained that the advertising restrictions violated the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
The original San Diego ordinance adopted in 1998 prohibited retailers and businesses from placing or displaying (1) any advertising or promotion of tobacco products on a sign in a publicly visible location located within 1,000 feet of a school, playground, recreation center, child care center, arcade or library, and (2) any advertising sign for tobacco products on the inside or outside of the windows or doors of a retail store or business that was visible to the public from outside the establishment. The ordinance was then amended by the San Diego City Council in June of last year to extend the advertising and promotion restrictions to electronic cigarettes and electronic cigarette accessory products.
In its June 28, 2014, letter to the San Diego City Council, NATO explained that the restrictions on tobacco product advertising in San Diego ordinance and the proposed extension of these restrictions to electronic cigarettes, electronic cigarette paraphernalia, and vaping juice, raised significant constitutional issues.

Hey everyone! you may ( or may not ) have noticed a sharp decline in the content here on GrimmGreen.com. The reason isn’t a slow news time, or lack of new devices. The reason is, in addition to running my YouTube ( which could be a full time job itself ) Keeping up with e-mails, running all my other social media, and running a liquid company. I’ve been trying to run GrimmGreen.com all by myself.
This model is obviously not sustainable and GrimmGreen.com inevitably falls by the wayside. Ive attempted to reach out in the past for help, only to have people offer, then disappear after a few weeks.
Here is what i’m looking for
1.) 3 - 4 people to help provide content here on grimmgreen.com , whether that be news, reviews, videos, interviews, first looks or just opinion columns.
2.) Dedicated people. I want people who are here for the long haul. People willing to take an hour every day to help me keep GrimmGreen.com running smoothly and maintain the integrity of my brand.
3.) Passionate vapers. In addition to fun articles, videos and interviews. I need someone with a passion for advocacy.
If you feel that you can rise to the challenge. Please email me nick@grimmgreen.com with an example article and a short bio on you and how long you have been vaping. I want a wide spectrum of people. Young and old, male and female to get a few different points of views.

Congress Moves to Protect the Vapor Industry From the FDA’s Deeming Ban
Spending bill would not stop regulations, but would stop unprecedented product bans
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the American Vaping Association, a leading advocate for the benefits of vapor products such as electronic cigarettes, praised the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Related Agencies for itsapproval of a spending bill that would prevent the FDA from regulating the vast majority of vapor products out of existence.
If enacted, the bill would make clear that the FDA Center for Tobacco products cannot require vapor products already on the market to go through a lengthy and potentially multimillion dollar Premarket Tobacco Review application process. This bill would not impact the FDA’s ability to regulate these products, including setting rigorous product and manufacturing standards.
Since the FDA regulation was proposed last April, industry and public health advocates have warned that the FDA’s insistence on retroactively applying the Premarket Tobacco Review requirements to already existing products would lead to over 99% of vapor products being banned. This would happen for no reason other than the inability of nearly all product manufacturers – other than those associated with large tobacco companies – to bear the associated costs.
In November, House leadership signaled that Congress could act on this issue if the FDA failed to do so. Speaker Rep. John Boehner, Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Fred Upton sent a joint letter to the Secretary of Health & Human Services requesting that this change be implemented in the regulation.
Gregory Conley, President of the American Vaping Association, issued the following statement:
“Without action by Congress, the FDA’s proposed regulations threaten to ban 99%-plus of vapor products currently available on the market. This would be a disaster not only for thousands of small businesses, but also public health.
"This proposal does not remove the FDA’s ability to regulate vapor products. The FDA will retain the authority to immediately move forward with science-based product standards, disclosure requirements, and many other measures. Anyone who claims that this bill would somehow render the FDA toothless is either not familiar with the law or not being forthright.
"We are thrilled to see movement on this issue. Clear evidence is emerging from around the world that vapor products are helping smokers quit. It is unconscionable to effectively ban the sale of tens of thousands of vapor products while leaving combustible cigarettes freely available.”

Due to Legislative Pressure, Mt Baker Vapor is Relocating from Washington state to sunny Arizona
It is with some sadness but also great excitement that we would like to announce the relocation of Mt. Baker Vapor from our birthplace of Bellingham, WA to a new home in Mesa, AZ. We are hoping to be fully operational at this new facility by Fall 2015. During this process we will strive to have zero downtime or interruptions to the normal ordering process at mtbakervapor.com.
While we love Washington and are thankful for the opportunity it has afforded us to grow this wonderful business, legislative pressure from Washington State has made it clear that they no longer offer a suitable environment for a growing business in the vaping industry. The Governor is currently sponsoring two bills (HB 1645 and HB 2211) that look to, among other things, ban online sales and impose enormous taxes on the sale of vapor products. Though the makers of e-cigarettes say their devices aren’t marketed to children, some companies that make liquid nicotine are not only using candy and fruit flavors that are forbidden from regular tobacco, but they’re using trademarked names of well-known snacks, sweets, and cereals. This isn’t sitting well with the companies that hold those trademarks.
For example, there’s apparently a liquid nicotine flavor called “Cinnamon Toast Crunch,” which just happens to be the name of a popular General Mills brand of cereal. And it’s not exactly an adult-target cereal (though I know way too many adults who eat it on a regular basis).That’s why General Mills is issuing cease-and-desist orders to nicotine makers that use Cinnamon Toast Crunch or any of its other brands.“Any use is unauthorized and would constitute an illegal misuse of our marks,” the company said in a statement to the Star Tribune. “General Mills has already sent a cease and desist letter to remove our branding and trademarks from these products – and we will take further action if necessary.”And the cereal biggie isn’t the only one trying to keep its trademarks off of liquid nicotine.
The Girl Scouts are none-too-thrilled about seeing “Thin Mint” being tossed around as a nicotine flavor, especially because of the youngster-friendly image of the Scouts.“Using the Thin Mint name — which is synonymous with Girl Scouts and everything we do to enrich the lives of girls — to market e-cigarettes to youth is deceitful and shameless,” a rep for the organization told the Tribune.Tootsie Roll Industries, the makers of cold-rolled steel Tootsie Rolls are also asking nicotine companies to please stop trying to cash in on its candy brand that has been getting stuck in kids’ teeth for over a century.
“We’re family oriented. A lot of kids eat our products, we have many adults also, but our big concern is we have to protect the trademark,” said Ellen Gordon, president and chief operating officer of Tootsie, who is not Dustin Hoffman in a wig.
“When you have well-known trademarks, one of your responsibilities is to protect (them) because it’s been such a big investment over the years.”Lawyers for these companies could be busy for quite some time, with around 1,500 businesses putting out liquid nicotine in the U.S.“It’s the age-old problem with an emerging market,” explains a board member of the American E-liquid Manufacturing Standards Association (which is an actual thing and not something from a 1957 sci-fi novella).
“As companies goes through their maturity process of going from being a wild entrepreneur to starting to establish real corporate ethics and product stewardship, it’s something that we’re going to continue to see.”And he should know, as his company was slapped on the wrist for selling a “Junior Mint” branded nicotine. Experts shocked to learn that the Center for disease Control has been taking MILLIONS of dollars from Big Pharma.
Why should you care? well apart from big tobacco, Big pharma is the other huge threat to the future of vaping and e-cigs.

The US government’s Centers for Disease Control have been taking millions of dollars in drug company money in recent years, according to a news report in The British Medical Journal. Researchers in America and around the world expressed shock, and asked how the funding has been influencing CDC actions and decisions.
Maybe the actions like the recent report where the CDC was claiming a “Dramatic increase in e-cig related calls to the poison control center?”
Or when the CDC reported that “E-cigarette use triples among middle and high school students in just one year”
Now i’m certainly not calling those reports bogus, Factually inaccurate? possibly. Funded by one of vaping’s biggest opponents? strong possibility.
The article goes on to say
Jerome R Hoffman, a methodologist and emeritus professor of medicine at UCLA, told The BMJ, “Most of us were shocked to learn the CDC takes funding from industry. Of course it is outrageous that industry apparently is allowed to punish the CDC if the agency conducts research that has the potential to cut into profits. But it was our government that made this very bad arrangement, so the way to fix it is not to ask the CDC to ‘pretty please be more ethical, and avoid conflicts of interest’; rather, as a society, we have to get the government to reject this devil’s bargain, by changing the rules so this can no longer happen.”
That industry apparently is allowed to punish the CDC if the agency conducts research that has the potential to cut into profits?!? wow, just wow. I’m somewhat floored ( yet not surprised ) at that statement. Certainly a PRO vaping report could certainly cut into the profits of pharmaceutical companies.

This New York Times article starts off with a quote from Mr Zeller saying
“We need a national debate on nicotine,” said Mitch Zeller.
The Article talks about the “tobacco wars” of the 90′s and Zeller’s insanely successful TRUTH campaign. The article also goes over the whole “we just don’t know what’s in them” talk that were all used to.
Then at the end there is this other quote from Zeller
“When nicotine is attached to smoke particles, it will kill,” said Zeller. “But if you take that same drug and put it in a patch, it is such a safe medicine that it doesn’t even require a doctor’s prescription.” That paradox helps explain why he believes “there needs to be a rethink within society on nicotine.”
And the article ends with this
It’s not that Zeller believes nicotine is perfectly safe (he doesn’t) or that we should shrug our shoulders if teenagers take up vaping. He believes strongly that kids should be discouraged from using e-cigarettes.
Rather, he thinks there should be a recognition that different ways of delivering nicotine also come with different risks. To acknowledge that, and to grapple with its implications, would be a step forward.
“This issue isn’t e-cigarettes,” said Mitch Zeller. “It’s nicotine.”
To me, (Nick) this is an incredibly powerful statement. All we had heard from Zeller and the FDA previously was “BAN BAN BAN KIDS KIDS KIDS FLAVORS FLAVORS FLAVORS”
Now it seems as though they are saying “Ok, before we rush into anything, lets have an actual open discussion of vaping and nicotine, and see what is REALLY going on”
Now I know we are trained to STAND UP against the FDA and Mitch Zeller, but I also think we need to be open to the idea that it is possible for the FDA and Mitch Zeller to change their mind on the subject.

For 50 yeas we have known that smoking can kill you. It is still the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. and yet 42.1 million people light up and new smokers start every day.“Smoking is my best friend,” Atlantan Barry Blackwell said. “It’s always with me long after friends have left and people have gone, they are always here”
To help people who do want to quit, scientists have looked with great interest into what works. Especially since studies have shown that 90 percent of those who try to quit, will start smoking again despite their best efforts.Here are some options that have been scientifically proven to work, at least some of the time.

Financial incentives
Financial benefit from quitting, may be your best bet – literally – particularly if you risk losing your own money.
Cold turkey
Only the most disciplined among us can quit without any help. Studies show only about 4-7% can do it without any additional help.

Love can help you through, according to a recent study that ran in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
Inhalers, nasal sprays, lozenges, gum and skin patches that deliver nicotine slowly are designed to help smokers get over the initial cravings and symptoms of withdrawal. And they do seem to help.
Prescription drugs
Talk to your doctor if you want to take the prescription route, but there are some drugs that seem to have some success, especially if used with an NRT

E-cigarettes
The jury is still out on this method. (WHAT?! pumping you full of prescription drugs is just fine though)
In 2014, a study that ran in the British journal the Lancetfound of the 657 people trying to quit over a period of six months, e-cigarettes did help about 7.3% to quit. That was more than the 5.8% of the people in the study who used a patch. What stood out most to the study’s authors was that so few the people were successful quitting using any method. They concluded more research is urgently needed.
Another group that presented their research at the American Thoracic Society Conference this month found that while some people did quit using e-cigarettes rather than regular cigarettes, they didn’t necessarily quit for good. Looking at more than a thousand people who wanted to quit, the authors found those who had more success quitting in the short term used e-cigarettes, but this effect was no longer observed at three- or six-month followups.
